2025 Retreat Counselor Application

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ADVISORS AND RETREAT COUNSELOR SELECTIONS:
Friday, March 7, 2025

HONORS RETREAT COUNSELOR EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES*
Honors Retreat 2025 will be held August 21 & 22, 2025 at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX.

Counselors are expected to:
- Attend the MANDATORY Retreat Counselor meeting on Friday, March 21, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
- Attend the MANDATORY Retreat Counselor meeting on Tuesday, April 29, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Respond to summer emails outlining details for Retreat and requesting your preferences, ideas, and suggestions.
- Attend the MANDATORY Training Session on Sunday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Retreat Planning Committee meetings will be held on Friday, March 29, and Friday April 4, at 2:00 p.m.
- Attend the MANDATORY Counselor Duty meeting on Wednesday, August 20, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- Ensure a successful Honors Retreat by welcoming the incoming Honors students, heading up color groups, encouraging participation in activities, offering insight at workshops, and generally making the new students feel a part of The Honors College!
- Enjoy early residence halls move-in (Saturday, August 16).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Retreat Counselors must attend orientation advisor training (March 21 from 10-12 or March 28 from 2-4) and participate in 4 orientation advising sessions (ongoing through summer) OR pay $100.

PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED ON BASIS OF: APPLICATION QUALITY, GRADE POINT AVERAGE, CLASSIFICATION, PREVIOUS PERFORMANCE AS AN ADVISOR AND/OR RETREAT COUNSELOR, AND OTHER HONORS EVENT EXPERIENCE.
