REACH 2024-2025 Application

REACH 2024-2025 Application

The Research for Aspiring Coogs in the Humanities (REACH) Program at the University of Houston is a collaborative effort supported by the Cougar Initiative to Engage and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Major Awards. REACH provides a year-long introductory research experience for students in humanities disciplines by connecting students to existing undergraduate research projects at the University of Houston.

Current sophomores, juniors, seniors, and transfer students at UH main campus pursuing a humanities discipline are encouraged to apply. Please review the eligibility details on the REACH program website. Applicants should have an interest in developing their research skills through hands-on participation in humanities-based scholarly inquiry. No prior experience is required!

REACH participants will develop their research skills through their work on a mentored research project and through their participation in OURMA undergraduate research programming. REACH participants receive a $1,500 scholarship split between the fall and spring semesters in the program. Participants should be prepared to commit 6-7 hours per week to research activities in the fall and spring semesters.

Prior to completing this application, applicants should review the list of REACH projects from our campus partners listed on the program website. In the application, you will be asked to identify specific projects you would like to work on.

To find out more about the program, visit the REACH website or contact the REACH program director, Dr. Rikki Bettinger, at rrbettin@central.uh.edu.
